#

Project Details

The Richmond Road / James Congdon Drive / South Road Capacity Upgrade project aimed at improving traffic flows during construction of the Torrens to Torrens Project.

The project involved widening South Road at the intersection with James Congdon Drive and Richmond Road; upgrading of Richmond Road to include an additional eastbound lane between South Road and Railway Terrace with widening of the bridge over Keswick Creek and upgrading of James Congdon Drive to include additional lanes on both east and westbound with subsequent widening over the Keswick Creek.

The project activities included earthworks, precast drainage installation, granular pavement works, bituminous/asphalt works, lighting installation, upgrade existing signal infrastructure, road furniture, and detailed traffic management.

Extensive traffic management and environmental controls were required to ensure compliance as the works were being undertaken along a major roadway and adjacent a live waterway. Most of the project activities were undertaken at night in order to maintain traffic flows during peak periods. The project also involved a challenge of working with the numerous existing live services at the project site.

Naveesh was the project engineer on a short-term role. To help the project achieve the deadline he controlled many aspects of the project. The various tasks included keeping track of finances, scheduling construction,  Infrastructure Projects Adelaide and organizing subcontractors; making sure construction was carried out in accordance with the specifications of the project.

Making sure all employees, contractors and sub-contractors work safely, and eliminating any hazard that may arise before injury occurs is essential for a safe work environment. For this project, Naveesh was responsible for and was successful with, managing site OH&S.

A critical task he managed as a project engineer was ensured construction work did not affect the environment. Naveesh is very passionate and environment conscious, therefore all considerations were taken into account prior to the commencement of construction. The potential environmental impact was thoroughly investigated to ensure the project was considered and thoroughly planned to the benefit of the people of Adelaide and causing minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
