The Chicken Shed – Murray Bridge Area

The Chicken Shed is located in Jervois. The client purchased the shed’s steelwork and framework from China. Unfortunately, Chinese National Standards differ from Australian National Standards, so the project needed a redesign to be compliant with local laws and legislation. We were able to help the client to meet this specification.

The shed has a large land area, so the original design had to be multiplied to fit. The steel that was purchased from overseas is defined as unidentified steel according to A.S. Therefore, both 2D and 3D analysis and calculation needed to start from the beginning. An office and workshop were also added to the design next to the shed. The client was extremely happy with the final design and the result achieved.

Structural engineering analysis work included:

• Wind load and load combination analysis
• Design Verification & Redesign of the Chinese Supplier’s Steel Framework to suit Australian Standards
• Footing and slab to bear the load actions
• Structural Engineering Calculations involving Unidentified Steel as per AS 4100.
